The most beautiful tours for winter hiking & snowshoeing on the Serles in the Stubai Valley

Our tips for your winter enjoyment away from the slopes:

When the first snow covers the mountain peaks in a calm, white blanket, a particularly magical time begins in the Stubai Valley. For all guests of the Berg Genuss Hotel Augarten in Neustift in the Stubai Valley, this means: get out of everyday life and into the magic of winter. Winter hiking or snowshoeing is the best way to actively experience winter and experience the mountains of the Stubaital in a particularly intense way.

Whether you prefer to take it easy with snowshoes or in winter boots – the winter trails around Neustift offer hiking fun for everyone. The path through snow-covered forests, over quiet, snow-covered clearings or to wide panoramic views becomes a little time-out. When winter hiking in the Stubai Valley, you can feel the crunch of the snow under your soles. With snowshoes, you literally glide over the white blanket of snow.

On quiet soles through the glittering winter landscape of the Serles

One of the most beautiful places for this is the majestic Serles (only 15 minutes by car from our Berg Genuss Hotel in Neustift). Against the imposing backdrop of the Serles, you can hike through pure nature … step by step … and feel how you recharge your batteries.

We have put together the most beautiful winter and snowshoe hiking tours for you here – all real gems for your winter vacation with us in Neustift:

1st winter hike to Maria Waldrast

From the starting point at the Serlesbahnen mountain station, a well-groomed winter hiking trail leads past the reservoir and along the Miederer Kapellenweg to the Maria Waldrast monastery inn. The walk takes around 1 hour (2.6 km in each direction and 150 meters in altitude). Once at the top, the Koppeneck panorama restaurant (at 1,605 m) and the Maria Waldrast monastery inn (at 1,638 m) invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Return along the same route. Parking is available at the valley station of the Serles lifts.

2nd route Gleinserhöfe for winter hiking on the Serles in the Stubai Valley

This groomed winter hike starts at the mountain station of the Serlesbahnen (parking is available again at the valley station of the Serlesbahnen). The trail leads past the Ochsenhütte and the Alpensalamander playground to the Gleinserhöfe farms. The magnificent view of the Serles and the Kalkkögel mountains invites you to enjoy. The walk takes approx. 1.5 hours in each direction over a distance of 5.6 km (altitude difference: 72 m). The way back is via the same route. On this route you have 3 refreshment stops where you can warm up with a cozy cup of tea and a delicious cake: the Koppeneck Panorama Restaurant (at 1,605 m), the Ochsenhütte (at 1,582 m) or the Gleinserhof Alpine Inn (at 1,412 m).

3rd Waldraster Jöchl for snowshoeing on the Serles in the Stubai Valley

This tour is only partially groomed (only as far as the Ochsenhütte), which is why this tour is only suitable for snowshoe hikers. Once again, you start at the Serlesbahnen mountain station. The hike takes you past the Koppeneck panorama restaurant along the winter hiking trail in the direction of the Ochsenhütte. Before the hut, turn right uphill onto the path towards Maria Waldrast. After a few minutes’ walk, you cross the ski slope and hike gently uphill towards Waldraster Jöchl until you reach the summit cross. Including the way there and back, you will be out and about for approx. 2 hours (4 km) and cover an altitude difference of 300 m. Due to the high starting point, you can experience this snowshoe hike early in winter (until spring).
